Jim Harbaugh shares news about his personal health
Los Angeles Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh has some health issues to address this offseason.
Harbaugh left the sideline during the first quarter of the Chargers’ Week 6 game against the Denver Broncos because of a heart condition he has dealt with for years. He told a reporter that he briefly left the game to deal with his arrhythmia, or irregular heartbeat.
On Wednesday, Harbaugh said he will soon undergo “an ablation on the heart.” He has had similar procedures in the past, most recently when he was coaching the San Francisco 49ers in 2012.
Harbaugh also told reporters this week that he is “going to get a hip replacement,” according to the Chargers’ official website. The 61-year-old coach has been seen walking with a limp, which is due to an issue with his hip.
The Chargers went 11-6 in their first season under Harbaugh. They hit a couple of rough patches in the middle of the season but won their final three games to reach the playoffs. They did not have a good showing in the Wild Card round, where they lost 32-12 to the Houston Texans.
