Josh Allen could not contain his emotions Saturday after the Buffalo Bills’ season came to an end.
Allen had two opportunities to lead the Bills to a game-winning drive against the Denver Broncos in their Divisional Round matchup at Empower Field at Mile High in Denver, Colo. But Allen came up short on both chances, allowing the Broncos to hold on for a 33-30 victory in overtime.
The Bills quarterback’s tears were flowing as he came up to the podium for his postgame press conference.
“I let my teammates down tonight,” Allen said once he got to the podium.
“Missed opportunities throughout the game. It’s been a long season. Hate how it ended. It’s going to stick with me for a long time. Can’t win with five turnovers. I fumbled twice, threw two picks. When you shoot yourself in the foot like that, you don’t deserve to win football games.”

The Bills had several chances to take control of Saturday’s game. Midway through the fourth quarter, Allen had 1st-and-10 just outside the red zone with Buffalo leading 24-23. But the Bills had to settle for a field goal after Allen threw a pair of incompletions.
Allen was in a similar situation with under a minute remaining in regulation. A stellar Bills trick play got them to the Broncos’ 32 with a fresh set of downs. Allen failed to connect on three consecutive passes, leading Buffalo to once again opt for a field goal that sent the game to OT.
Allen’s best chance came in the extra period. With Denver being forced to punt, all Buffalo needed was a field goal to win the game. But Allen had a deep ball intercepted by Ja’Quan McMillian, allowing the Broncos to win the contest with a short field goal.
