Leonard Fournette says he is in ‘good place’ with Jaguars
Jacksonville Jaguars running back Leonard Fournette has had a somewhat tumultuous tenure with the team since being drafted fourth overall in 2017, and he’s essentially resetting his career as a result.
Fournette said Friday that he and the Jaguars are in a “good place” and is looking forward to what amounts to a fresh start with the team.
“I’m happy, especially the way I’m here working with my team right now,” Fournette said, via Michael DiRocco of ESPN. “It’s a new year. We have a new team. We’re focused and we have new players. It’s a new year for us. So it’s a new everything. It’s a clean start for a lot of us guys.
“We’re not focused on the past. The past’s the past. Some things I did, whether it was offseason and I admitted to, yeah, I was wrong. We moved on. We’re in a good place right now.”
Fournette had a messy ending to 2018, but has cleared the air with the organization. With a new and better quarterback in Nick Foles, he’ll be expected to start justifying the trust put in him when he was drafted so high in 2017.
