Marcus Peters became the latest NFL player to make a statement during the national anthem ahead of Sunday’s game between the Chiefs and Chargers.
Prior to the game, the Chiefs released a statement saying players would lock arms as a sign of solidarity to be unified and respectful in remembrance of 9/11. Peters, who was at the end of the line, raised his right fist in the air.

Earlier in the week, Peters came out in support of Colin Kaepernick, saying he is 100 percent behind the Niners quarterback.
“I’m 100 percent behind him,” Peters said via FOX 4. “I feel that what was going on in law enforcement, it does need to change. It does need to change for all, equal opportunities for everybody, not just us as black Americans. I feel that over the past year it’s been displayed what’s been going on across America and over across the world. Just on my piece, I don’t think nothing’s being done about it.”
It was widely expected that during Sunday’s slate of NFL games there would be other players who would follow the lead of Kaepernick and Brandon Marshall of the Broncos. Marcus Peters added his name to the list.
