Sebastian Janikowski will reportedly visit with Chargers

Sebastian Janikowski

Sebastian Janikowski was released by the Oakland Raiders earlier this offseason after 17 seasons with the team, but the 40-year-old does not appear ready to retire just yet.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that Janikowski is scheduled to meet with the Los Angeles Chargers.

Janikowski did not play in 2017 because of a back injury, but he made 82.9 percent of his field goal attempts in 2016. The number was a little skewed because he attempts so many long-distance kicks due to his leg strength, and five of his misses came from the 50-plus range.

We already speculated that the Chargers would have interest in Janikowski, and it seems like a logical pairing after the team was mocked for its disastrous kicking situation last season. If L.A. does sign Janikowski, they will likely have a younger kicker in training camp and hold a competition for the job.
