Steve Smith has been sued over his alleged affair with a married man’s wife.
Smith was called out in February by a man named Tony Martinez, who posted evidence of the affair online. The evidence included a phone call Martinez had with Smith, who said “sorry” to the man for having an affair with Martinez’s wife. Martinez also posted screenshots of sexual text message conversations Smith had with Martinez’s wife.
According to a story published by The Charlotte Observer on Thursday, Martinez filed a lawsuit in Mecklenburg County Superior Court on Tuesday against Smith. The complaint was filed citing North Carolina’s “alienation of affection” law, which is commonly known as a “homewrecker” law. North Carolina is one of a few states that has a law allowing a married person to sue a third party for allegedly wrecking ones marriage.
The lawsuit says that Smith met the woman when he worked with the Baltimore Ravens’ marching band last season for a segment he filmed while working in his role with NFL Network. The woman was a member of the Ravens’ marching band.
It’s on Martinez to prove that genuine love and affection existed between him and his wife that Smith ruined. He is seeking over $100,000 in damages, plus attorneys fees.

Smith is married and has four children with his longtime wife. He remains employed by NFL Network despite the allegation and lawsuit.
