Former Texas QB Tyrone Swoopes getting NFL interest as TE
Former Texas quarterback Tyrone Swoopes has virtually no chance of ever throwing a pass for an NFL team, but what about catching a few?
Swoopes, who completed 56 percent of his passes in four seasons with the Longhorns, ran an impressive 4.65 40-yard dash at Texas Pro Day this week. While his days of playing quarterback may be over, Swoopes is reportedly generating interest as a tight end.

As Ezra Siegel of the Dallas Morning News notes, Swoopes’ 40-yard dash time would have ranked ninth among tight ends at the NFL Scouting Combine. At 6-foot-4 and 247 pounds, you can understand why Swoopes has caught the attention of scouts with his combination of size and speed.
“I think I can raise quite a few (eyebrows) just with how well I move and how well I caught the ball,” he said, via Danny Davis of the Austin American-Statesman. “I think I deserve a shot, just like anybody else.”
Swoopes showed impressive hands and route-running ability, which is something he said he worked on at the Michael Johnson Performance center. He’s unlikely to be drafted next month, but we wouldn’t rule out a team giving him a shot in training camp.
