Giants S Will Hill: Dez Bryant really doesn’t like to be touched

dez-bryantThe New York Giants appear to be in the process of rediscovering their swagger. Winners of four straight games, the G-Men can pull to within one game of the idle Philadelphia Eagles this weekend for first place in the NFC East if they defeat the Dallas Cowboys. They seem plenty confident.

On Wednesday, Giants safety Will Hill was asked what his team will do to slow Dez Bryant.

“Get your hands on him,” Hill said, via NJ.com’s Jordan Raanan. “He doesn’t like to be touched, like most receivers in this league. But really him. He doesn’t like to be touched.”

Vowing to “be physical” is one of the most cliche things a defensive back can do prior to a game, but the Giants are under the impression that it truly is the key to getting the best of Bryant.

“You just have to be physical with him,” cornerback Prince Amukamara concurred. “He’s a big guy. You just have to use his medicine against him. I think that is the key.”

A reporter pointed out that Bryant is one of the best receivers in the game when it comes to picking up yards after the catch. Hill seems to think that physicality kicks in once Dez gets the ball in his hands.

“Yeah, once he gets the ball, [he’s physical],” Hill said. “He has to get in his route in order to get the ball. Just like any receiver, if you get your hands on him before they can get into their route, it’s hard to get him the ball when you disrupt their routes.”

We shall see. Earlier this week, Jason Pierre-Paul and Antrel Rolle said the Giants are out for blood against the Cowboys. On the other side, Dallas defensive end DeMarcus Ware said the G-Men are always talking and looking to “put gas on the fire.” All that really matters is what happens in New Jersey on Sunday. The fact that the Giants are in the hunt after starting 0-6 is remarkable.
