Logan Couture not sure why Sharks are underperforming
Logan Couture does not feel like his San Jose Sharks are playing up to their potential, and he’s not sure why.
The Sharks lost 4-2 to the St. Louis Blues in Game 2 of the Western Conference finals on Monday night to even the series 1-1. Couture scored a short-handed goal in the second to put San Jose on the board and later tied things up with his 100th career playoff point. The tie was broken later in the second, and then the Blues put the game away in the third period.
After the game, Couture told reporters that he felt like the Sharks are not playing their best. He called it “discouraging” and “frustrating.”
Couture: "I don't think we've played up to our capability in a while now. We did just enough to beat the Avalanche. We haven't played our best hockey since that Vegas series. It's discouraging. It's frustrating. We're going to need everyone here if we want to beat these guys."

San Jose has gone seven games in both of their series prior to the conference finals. They actually came back from down 3-1 against Vegas in the first round and rattled off three straight wins to take the series, needing extra periods for the last two games. Against the Avalanche, the last three games of the series were decided by one goal, and the Sharks were shutout in Game 4.
Besides the easy 6-3 win in Game 1, San Jose has been grinding out many games recently this postseason. They’ll have a chance to make up for things in Game 3 on Wednesday in St. Louis.
