Ronda Rousey broke her thumb on Alexis Davis’ face

Ronda Rousey

Ronda Rousey absolutely dominated Alexis Davis to successfully defend her UFC women’s bantamweight title on Saturday night. The entire fight lasted just 16 seconds. Believe it or not, that was long enough for Rousey to suffer a significant injury.

Lance Pugmire of the Los Angeles Times reports that Rousey will be out for over two months due to a broken thumb she suffered against Davis. Considering the fight only consisted of a punch, a knee, a hip toss and multiple punches to the head, we have to assume Rousey literally broke her hand on Davis’ face.

You would expect Rousey to have escaped the bout unscathed when the fight was called after 16 seconds. That just goes to show you that anything can happen in a short amount of time.
