Stop me if you’ve heard this before: Hope Solo is in the middle of a controversy.
This one stems from a game over the weekend between the Portland Thorns and Seattle Reign in the National Women’s Soccer League. The Thorns were 2-0-2 entering Saturday’s game and hosting the then 5-0 Reign, which feature UWMNT stars Hope Solo, Sydney Leroux and Megan Rapinoe. Solo’s Reign won 1-0 to remain undefeated, but there was a lot of bad blood in the game.
After the match, Thorns owner Merritt Paulson tweeted the following:
Reign celebrating like they won a championship after being outplayed by depleted Thorns team. Good game…will be fun to see them again.

Leroux responded with this:
Aw, @MerrittPaulson don't be bitter it's a bad look.

Fast forward to Tuesday, and the issues between the teams still hadn’t blown over. Solo was the target of taunts from the Thorns crowd, and she tweeted a picture to show that it was the Thorns fans who were being inappropriate/hostile at the game:
Hmmm….truth be told….who flipped off who again? Real classy Portland. Maybe you get it from your owner? pic.twitter.com/VlnD3Tm2R3

That looks like a couple of Thorns fans flipping Solo the bird and her just waving back to them. Maybe Solo is above sparring with fans. Or at least flipping them the bird.
