Simone Biles and Taylor Swift traded some love on Twitter ahead of the balance beam final on Tuesday in Tokyo.
Biles’ 2020 Summer Olympics have gone anything but expected this year. Viewed as a favorite to dominate the gymnastics field in Tokyo, Biles instead dealt with some mental issues called the “twisties” that prevented her from competing in several events.
Biles withdrew from the team competition and the finals of all the individual events, except for the balance beam. The beam, which was the final individual event, was going to mark her return at the Olympics.
NBC had Taylor Swift narrate a video promoting Biles’ return. Biles responded to the video and said she was “crying” over how special it was.
Swift replied and said she cried too while watching Biles.
I cried watching YOU. I feel so lucky to have gotten to watch you all these years, but this week was a lesson in emotional intelligence and resilience. We all learned from you. Thank you. https://t.co/VQxyeEf0mJ
Biles ended up winning the bronze medal at the event.
After winning four golds and a bronze in 2016 at Rio, Biles won silver in the team event and bronze on the balance beam in the 2020 Games at Tokyo. She now has seven medals in her Olympics career.
Jason Vargas wants you to know that he is definitely on Team Taylor.
Prior to Wednesday’s start against the New York Yankees, the New York Mets lefty warmed up to Taylor Swift’s new song “You Need To Calm Down,” per Laura Albanese of Newsday.
Very Important Notice: Jason Vargas is warming up to Taylor Swift's "You Need to Calm Down."
What made Vargas’ song choice particularly appropriate is that Wednesday was just his second start since his clubhouse altercation with a team reporter. Furthermore, though the song came out earlier, it has gained further buzz recently thanks to Swift’s own feud with entertainment executive Scooter Braun, who just acquired the rights to her music catalog.
Unfortunately though, the Tay Tay pick did not ultimately pan out for Vargas — he gave up three earned runs (including two in the first inning) to take the loss to the Yankees in a 5-1 affair. As for the next time around, perhaps Vargas will have to warm up to Swift’s “Shake It Off” instead.
The Archie Griffin Award-winning running back even tried to enlist the help of Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer in his efforts to secure a date with Swift.
@OSUCoachMeyer should invite @taylorswift13 to team dinner at the golf course tomorrow night. There's always a seat open next to me.
However, as Jones learned after ultimately failing to secure a rendezvous with Rousey, it wasn’t all smooth sailing for Elliott as he was swiftly (heh, heh) CB’d by his own mascot, Brutus Buckeye.
Swift has yet to respond to any of the inquiries but nevertheless, it’s a valiant effort by the 20-year-old Elliott. While he might not have a banner to present to her, maybe his 2014-2015 championship ring will do the trick.
Ezekiel Elliott: making big runs both on and off the gridiron.
Don’t hate on the Brodie. Especially don’t hate on the Brodie for his elegant taste in music.
On Tuesday night, Oklahoma City Thunder point guard Russell Westbrook proved that even cyborgs have feelings, attending a Taylor Swift concert at the Staples Center in Los Angeles and sharing majestic footage of him lip-syncing in the audience to his Instagram account.
A video posted by Russell Westbrook (@russwest44) on
His caption read: “T SWIFT …WAS ROCKINNNN LAST NIGHT!! …. @taylorswift”
Westbrook is a noted parishioner at the Church of T-Swizzle, bumping Swift’s hit “Bad Blood” in the car a few months ago and posting it for the entire world to see.

Swift’s 1989 World Tour has already had a healthy NBA superstar presence with one fellow basketball immortal even surprising her with an honorary banner. Now, her global concert excursion has been blessed by the presence of the Point Godzilla, and there’s no telling the heights she can soar to from here.
No word though if Westbrook dedicated that rendition of “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” to Scott Brooks.
Seven-time Grammy Award winning artist Taylor Swift performed at the Staples Center on Friday night and was fittingly surprised onstage by the man who brought the building seven NBA Finals appearances.
Resident Lakerland legend Kobe Bryant made a special appearance at Swift’s 1989 World Tour concert over the weekend to present the 25-year-old singer with her very own championship banner to hang in the Staples Center rafters. The Black Mamba, who has already raised five of them in his storied 19-year career, unveiled the banner for Swift to help honor her for officially setting the record Friday for most sold-out shows in the arena’s history with 16.
The only thing that would have made this moment any better was if Bryant sang to Swift as the banner was being revealed, “I’ve got a blank banner, baby. And I’ll write your name.”
Really looking forward to when the neighboring Clippers cover up Swift’s new banner with a picture of Lance Stephenson.
Russell Westbrook jammed out to Taylor Swift’s “Bad Blood,” and shared a video on Instagram of him grooving, and the singer loved it.
Westbrook captured himself on video selfie-style and was really into it, bobbing his head and everything. He shared it on IG, tagged Swift in the video, and she tweeted it and said it made her night.
The Houston Astros are so confident they won’t make the playoffs next season that they have scheduled a Taylor Swift concert to be held at Minute Maid Park in the middle of October.
Fine, maybe we’re exaggerating a little. Shortly after the Astros announced the Swift concert, they noted that the show is subject to change in the incredibly rare event (our words, not theirs) that there is an Astros playoff home game on Oct. 13.
Note: the date of the Taylor Swift 1989 tour show at #MMP is subject to change if it conflicts with an #Astros postseason home game.
I can’t be the only one who finds this hilarious. It’s almost like the second tweet was an afterthought. I can just picture a bunch of team executives excited to have Taylor Swift coming to perform at Minute Maid Park without even thinking about the playoffs.
Aaron Rodgers spent some time bowling with Taylor Swift and Jessica Szohr during the week, which has prompted some speculation that he is dating the singer.
E! says Swift was really nice to everyone, including Rodgers, and was hanging out with Szohr. Though Hollywood Life is wondering if something is up with Rodgers and Swift, the more likely story is that something might be going on between Rodgers and Szohr.
Rodgers and Szohr, who is an actress known for her work on “Gossip Girl,” were first linked together back in Dec. 2010. Szohr supposedly attended a Packers game in the quarterback’s box, and the two reportedly hung out at a Bucks game the next night. A few months later, Rodgers hung out with Szohr, Mila Kunis and Stacy Kiebler at an Oscars party.
Yup, if anything’s going on, it might be between Rodgers and Szohr. Though if Rodgers managed to pull off George Costanza’s dream with the two ladies, he’d be reaching idol status.
Looks like this Tim Tebow-Taylor Swift chatter isn’t going to go away quickly. With gossip swirling that the two are dating, Us Weekly informs us that Swift has a “puppy dog crush” on the Broncos quarterback.
“Yes, she has a crush on him,” a source told the magazine. “She is a massive fan, but I don’t think he sees her that way.”
The story cites two sources, which is two more than I even knew were possible for such a story. But even still, this news is a contradiction to the recent People report that said these two potential lovebirds were merely friends.
Either way, we don’t know what Tebow is waiting for. The country singer isn’tthe first celebrity to allegedly have a thing for Timmy. But out of all his admirers, Swift is perhaps the most normal, and the whole Christianity angle works out both ways. So, come on, Tebow. Do it for us. Do it for you.
Oh, and if things don’t work out with Taylor, we know Katy Perry and Kim Kardashian are interested.

Earlier this week, gossip outlets were sent into a frenzy with word breaking that Tim Tebow and Taylor Swift were possibly dating after the two were spotted dining together at a So Cal Italian restaurant Monday. On Friday People had to go ruin all the fun by filing a report that suggests the two are just friends.
“I would say they came in more as friends,” a source from the restaurant told the magazine. “Taylor came in with another young male and seemed to be with him more than Tebow. However, it was very hard to determine because they all seemed to be good friends.”
Drat! Those two together could have been a power couple. They’re young, talented and likeable. They had the potential to make up for everything that came from Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries’ nuptial farce last year.
