For as much as you do for the site by reading, commenting, and supporting all things LBS, I don’t do nearly enough for you. But I’m going to try and make things up. I have a Super Bowl prize pack from Pepsi to give away that would be perfect for someone hosting a party. Here’s how we’re going to run the contest. The football season is full of stories — good and bad alike, but there’s nothing worse than suffering a bad beat during the season. Let me know a bad beat story that you had, either as a fan or a gambler, and the most sympathetic case will win the prize pack in hopes of cheering them up. Lions fans should run away with this thing. Anyway, here’s the Pepsi pack we’re playing for:

The picture doesn’t show that you’ll also receive 5 24 pack coupons and 5 Frito Lay coupons. In these tough times, that’s nothing to sneeze at. Best of luck to all those who participate.

I’m a Jets fan and I can’t stand Favre, does that win?

I had the under in the Vikings and Bears game back in week 7 thinking the two offenses couldn’t put anything together. The final score was 48-41 with Gus Frerotte and Kyle Orton throwing for 2 touchdowns each. Those guys suck. Who would have expected that.

I’m a girl and I live in the Chicago area. Always was a Bears fan, but not SO much a fan as to attend the end of the season games where you freeze your patootie off. Anyway, years ago, I was given four tickets to go to a game that was in early December. I remember thinking “Well, we’ll bundle up. How bad could it be?” Ok, so before half-time even, I am completely frozen, but the game was really close and exciting. Third quarter – I’m thinking “I can hold out another 45 mins. I can do it! ” But I wasn’t feeling my fingers or toes much any more. Near the end of the fourth quarter, Bears are up by 7. Other team has the ball. Sure enough, just before the end, they tied the game. The tears rolling down my cheeks were frozen before they got too far. I cried and cried. I couldn’t stand the cold anymore. Had to go home. I missed the end — which was a good thing as the Bears lost and then I would have REALLY lost it!

I’m a Browns Fan and have been for years (that alone should qualify me as a bad beat story winner). Many years ago when the Browns were the “original” Browns, my brother-in-law gave me awesome tickets to the game. I took my three closest friends. It was frigid cold and that wind coming off the lake froze all my extremities off while we were tailgating before the game. I watched the Browns go down in flames (big shock) and we took our time headed back to the car to avoid the crowd. When we got there the car wouldn’t start. There was literally no one left in the parking lot and we sat there for another hour until my wife could come down with a set of jumper cables so I could jump it. Bad enough to watch a losing game in the cold but then to have to sit in a cold car waiting for help just topped off an already bad Sunday.

OK…Here’s a baaaad beat story but it’s not me that went bad when my team got beat. When I was younger, my father, a very big 49ers fan, was watching a big game (honestly……..I cannot define “big game”, I think to men anything is a “big game”, but I would assume it was some type of playoffs?) Anyway…. I was a oh so cool teenage girl and my parents were having this party with great food and so I invited all of my friends and of course the cutest boy in school so I thought I was just sooo cool…. to make a long story short… My dad’s team got beat, and he flipped out so bad.. he was yelling and embarrassing me and he was making such a scene that all of my friends left in horror (or at least what I considered horror in my 15 year old mind). I had never been so embarressed…It turns my stomach even today to remember it!! My dad swears he didn’t act that bad… he’ll never live it down:)

The worse ever was not at my house but at my co-workers house. We all kind of get into the Super Bowl at work but especially 2 of us girls at work and when the Patriots made it to the Super Bowl we were ready to celebrate. Well it so happens that my co-worker was throwing a Super Bowl party in her basement with the big screen and the wings you name it. The problem was just as the game was getting on and things were getting hot more than just the game heated up. She was deep frying wedges in a deep fryer meant for outside but since it was real cold because we live in Maine and after all it was the Super Bowl so she decided that deep frying in the basement would be A-OK and when she went to put them in the deep fryer the grease was to hot and to deep and exploded catching the house on fire. They saved the main house but the basement suffered some damage and unfortunately her and 2 others suffered from some burns but the good news is that they are all fine and healed well. It was a lesson well learned never use a deep fryer meant for outdoors indoors not even for the super Bowl. I’d have to say this is the worse Super Bowl Party ever~!
