Brook Lopez said ‘you know’ 14 times in a three-question interview (Video)

Brook-Lopez-you-knowMost professional athletes have a hard time doubling as public speakers, but it is a part of their job description. The most overused phrase or filler among athletes who are being interviewed is “you know.” For whatever reason, this is the comfort zone for many people in pro sports when they’re standing in front of a microphone.

Brook Lopez took that to a different level a few weeks ago. At the beginning of the month, the Brooklyn Nets center conducted a quick interview with the YES Network a few hours after he was informed that he had been named to the Eastern Conference All-Star team. He was asked only three questions, but that gave him enough time to sneak the phrase “you know” into his answers on 14 separate occasions.

Someone had to have dared him to say “you know” as many times as he possibly could, right? We saw this NFL safety play the “meow” game on “SportsCenter” a few months ago, so you can’t say it hasn’t been done before. I hope that’s what happened here.
