Kobe Bryant: Only right Lakers get No. 2 pick after playing like crap all season

The Lakers finished with the fourth-worst record in the NBA this season. However, they will have the No. 2 pick in next month’s draft thanks to some good fortune in the lottery, which was held Tuesday evening.

Shortly after the announcement was made, Kobe Bryant said, via his Twitter account, it was only right they would end up in the second spot.

We played like crap all season so it's only right we get the #2 pick HA #lakerluck #goodday

— Kobe Bryant (@kobebryant) May 20, 2015

The Lakers have cap space, a good young point guard in Jordan Clarkson, and last year’s No. 7 pick (Julius Randle) to build around going forward. Now, they will add another premier young talent to go along with them.

As another Lakers great noted, things are looking up for the purple & gold.

The basketball gods smiled down on the Lakers, giving us the #2 pick in the draft!

With the #2 pick we can get a great big man, add some good free agents this summer & we will be right back as a contender next season!

— Earvin Magic Johnson (@MagicJohnson) May 20, 2015

I’m not sure about being a contender next season, but the chance to select either Jahlil Okafor or Karl-Anthony Towns is definitely reason for Lakers fans to be excited.
