Blake Bortles reportedly will enter NFL draft

Blake BortlesBlake Bortles will leave Central Florida early to enter the 2014 NFL draft, according to a report.

The Orlando Sentinel cites a source in saying that Bortles will make his announcement on Monday. Bortles is coming off a great junior season in which he led the UCF Knights to a 12-1 record including a Fiesta Bowl victory over Baylor.

Bortles completed 67.8 percent of his passes for 3,581 yards, 25 touchdowns and nine interceptions this season. He also rushed for 272 yards and six TDs, and at 6-foot-4 and 230 pounds, is much more mobile than you would expect given his size.

ESPN’s Todd McShay has him rated as his second quarterback prospect for the draft, while some teams reportedly have him rated first.

It would have been tough for Bortles to improve his draft stock next season, so this was definitely the right career move. And the best news for all of us is that this also means his girlfriend, Lindsey Duke, will also be going pro. We can’t wait to see what they do at the next level.
