Four Texas Tech football players arrested on criminal charges
With Texas Tech’s basketball team fighting for a spot in the Final Four and making headlines for all the right reasons, four football players managed to bring some negative attention to the school over the weekend.
According to Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office records, four Texas Tech football players were arrested on criminal charges early Sunday morning. As Domingo Ramirez Jr. of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram notes, the players are sophomore quarterback Jett Duffey, linebacker Christian Malik-Shakur Taylor, starting wide receiver Quan Shorts and starting cornerback Desmon Smith. The charges include criminal mischief and disorderly conduct, though details on the arrests have not yet been released.

Duffey, who is currently competing for a starting job, was suspended last spring for an off-field incident. All four players were with the team on Saturday for a scrimmage.
On the basketball court, Texas Tech has been one of the biggest stories of March Madness.
