NC State QB Ryan Finley thinks they can beat Clemson

NC State Football

NC State will have its biggest game of the season in two weeks when they take on Clemson.

Both teams are undefeated this season and have the upcoming weekend off, giving them extra time to prepare for the tough challenge on Oct. 20. Wolfpack quarterback Ryan Finley told Tiki and Tierney on CBS Sports Radio that he thinks they can win if they execute.

“I think the bye week has allowed us to do some different things,” Finley said. “But Clemson is Clemson. We’re going to prepare for them like any other football team on our schedule. We’re going to watch film on them and see their weaknesses, and we kind of have a philosophy, and I personally do: It’s not really about Clemson. It’s about us. It’s about us executing what we do and what we do well, just doing that at a high level. If we do that, we’re going to beat them. It’s an exciting opportunity to have the bye week before these guys.”

Finley has lost both times he’s faced Clemson, though the contests were close. They lost each by a touchdown, including in 2016 when the game went to overtime. This might be their best shot at beating the Tigers.

Clemson showed in tight wins over Texas A&M and Syracuse that they can be vulnerable. They should be on notice now following Finley’s display of confidence.
