Tim Tebow admits he is now a ‘pretty big fan’ of Ohio State

Avert your eyes, Florida fans. If you cannot handle the thought of the most popular player in Gator history sleeping with the enemy, do not read any further. You have been warned.

Tim Tebow is now a big Ohio State fan. Considering his close relationship with Urban Meyer, this should not come as a surprise. That doesn’t mean it will be easy for Florida fans to hear, many of whom despise the Buckeyes and believe Meyer is a traitor for coaching them.

“I was pretty nervous,” Tebow told The Plain Dealer Friday while explaining how he was tracking the Ohio State-Purdue game before a Jets flight. “We were literally taking off as they were about to score and then go for the two-point conversion, so I didn’t know until we landed that they won. So it was pretty cool. And I guess as hard as it is for me to say, I am a pretty big fan now of The Ohio State University.”

It may not be nearly as bad as if Tebow became a fan of, say, Florida State or Georgia, but it has to sting Gator Nation a tad. Meyer said he is hoping Tebow will have some time to work out with his new star quarterback Braxton Miller in the offseason, so it could get even more painful if Tebow indirectly helps Ohio State improve.

The bottom line is Tebow and Meyer are like father and son. There’s a reason we heard rumors like this one when Meyer stepped down from Florida, even if they never came to fruition. If Meyer became the next coach at Georgia, Tebow would likely become a Bulldogs fan. Fortunately for Florida fans, that will almost certainly never happen.
