Brittney Griner files for annulment, questions wife’s pregnancy
Brittney Griner has filed to have her marriage to fellow WNBA player Glory Johnson annulled and says in her paperwork that the union was based on “fraud and duress,” according to a report.
TMZ reported news of the filing from Griner and adds some details about the move. The timing of the annulment request is interesting because it comes a day after Johnson announced that she is pregnant.
According to what TMZ found in the filing, it seems like Griner had an issue with the pregnancy. She claims she has no biological connection to the baby and has no knowledge of key details surrounding it.
Griner also says she was pressured into the marriage under duress by statements from Johnson.
Johnson and Griner were arrested for domestic violence in late April and still got married a few weeks later. Both women were suspended seven games by the WNBA as a result, but Johnson is expected to miss the upcoming season because of her pregnancy.
If you do the math on the timing of the domestic violence arrest, the pregnancy announcement and the annulment, you’re left wondering whether they’re all connected. No matter what, this shows us that domestic violence is never a good circumstance under which people should get married.
