Brandon Spikes at center of hit-and-run investigation
A vehicle registered to Brandon Spikes was found abandoned on a highway in Foxboro Sunday morning around the same time an alleged hit-and-run accident was reported in the same area, according to police.
Police say an OnStar navigation operator notified state police around 3:20 a.m. Sunday that the driver of a 2011 Mercedes Maybach told them he hit a deer. Troopers responding to the call found the vehicle abandoned near the center median along I-495. They also found damage to the front of the vehicle and no signs of a deer.
Around the same time that the OnStar operator called police, a family reported being hit by a car from behind. The family could not see who hit them. All three people were taken to the hospital for examination and treatment.
“The investigation will seek to determine whether there is any connection between the reported incidents,” State police spokesman David Procopio said via The Boston Herald. “No connection has yet been definitively established.”
Spikes was drafted by the Patriots in 2010 and spent the first four seasons of his career with them before playing for the Bills last season. He signed with the Pats in May.
