LaVance Taylor signed by Chiefs day after tweeting them highlight video
LaVance Taylor, a running back out of Central Missouri, was not selected in this year’s NFL Draft. However, thanks to a seemingly innocent (yet hopeful) tweet, he’s now a member of an NFL team.
On Wednesday, Taylor sent the above highlight video of himself to the Chiefs via Twitter. “@KCChiefs hey my name is LaVance Taylor and I am currently a free agent and I wanted you to check me out,” Taylor wrote. He also included a 12-minute video showcasing his skills.
Fortunately for Taylor, the Chiefs were in need of a running back after Cyrus Gray was released and Keshawn Hill suffered a hamstring injury. Next thing you know, Taylor was participating in training camp with Jamaal Charles.

Taylor rushed for 1,918 yards last year and scored 15 touchdowns. He also caught 38 passes for 427 yards and finished the season as the MIAA’s leading rusher. He also set single-season school records in rushing yards and all-purpose yards. As if the story couldn’t get any better, Taylor is a native of Missouri.
“Love the Chiefs, I love anything Kansas City actually,” Taylor said, via the Kansas City Star. “This is humbling and a blessing.”
Sometimes it’s worth it to take a shot. You never know what might happen. At least maybe that’s what Steven Jackson was hoping.
