Aaron Boone rips Gleyber Torres’ ‘ridiculous’ All-Star snub
New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone was quite upset on Wednesday, but it wasn’t over his team’s play or someone’s conduct.
Boone was vocally critical of the exclusion of infielder Gleyber Torres from the American League All-Star team, calling it a “joke” that he won’t be making a trip to Cleveland.
Aaron Boone on Gleyber Torres' all-star worthiness: "I think its a joke he's not on that team. Gleyber Torres is not an all-star? You can kick rocks on that. It's ridiculous. […] It doesn't seem right to me that he's not on that team."

Boone certainly has a point. Torres is hitting .295 with 19 home runs to go with a .363 OBP. His problem is that, between fans voting for starters, positional logjams, and the requirement of one representative per team, some guys are going to get squeezed. One of Torres’ AL East rivals did, at least initially. Boone’s frustration is warranted, but it’s something of a reflection of how the system works.
