The Atlanta Braves are bringing back Mike Foltynewicz in an elimination game on Monday.
Braves manager Brian Snitker said after the team’s 6-5 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game 3 of the NLDS Sunday that Folty would start Game 4. Atlanta originally was considering pitching Julio Teheran in the game, but they’ve decided to put the ball in the hands of their best starter during the regular season.
Folty was hit hard in Game 1 of the series. He was punished for two home runs and four runs allowed in two innings. He was pulled early and threw 50 pitches in the outing.
The Braves have been leaning heavily on their bullpen during the series. Their starters have only pitched 8.2 innings in three games, leaving the rest of the games to the bullpen. There will probably be more of the same for them on Monday.
The Dodgers are set to start southpaw Rich Hill, who was dominant in his final outing of the regular season, as they look to clinch an NLCS appearance.
