Cubs send 40 pizzas to Astros as part of new World Series tradition

The Chicago Cubs have passed the torch — or rather, passed the pie — to the Houston Astros.

The Cubs ordered 40 pizzas on Thursday to be delivered to Minute Maid Park on Friday before the championship parade in honor of the Astros winning the World Series, the Houston Chronicle reports.

They sent a note which reportedly said:

“Cheers & Congratulations
To The new Reigning Champs!
Enjoy The Time-Honored Tradition Of Feeding The New Champions!
From: The Chicago Cubs”

They ordered the pizzas from a store called “The Original Fuzzy’s Pizza.”

The Chronicle reports that this is a new tradition. They say the 2013 champion Red Sox sent pizza and a congratulatory note to the 2014 champion Giants, who did the same for the 2015 champion Royals, who did it for the 2016 champion Cubs.

Nobody can argue with this tradition. Pizza is awesome. Though it’s not quite as cool as being a World Series champion.
