Dante Bichette quit job with Blue Jays for great reason

Dante Bichette talking to his son

Dante Bichette quit his job with the Toronto Blue Jays for a good reason.

Bichette played for five different teams during his 14 season MLB career, which included four All-Star appearances. He has two sons who played ball, including Bo, who is an emerging star with the Blue Jays.

Dante has worked as a hitting coach for the Blue Jays the last two seasons to help their young players, including Bo.

But he resigned from his job recently so that he could work with his son.

Bo joined 590 The Fan’s Jeff Blair and Kevin Barker for an interview on Wednesday night. In the interview, Bo said that Dante quit his job with the Blue Jays so that he could continue to help his son amid MLB’s lockout.

Coaches and team personnel are not allowed to communicate with players while the lockout is ongoing.

“Yeah, the father-son relationship comes first so my dad resigned from that job to be able to work with me and not have that affect anything,” Bichette said on Blair and Barker. “So we’ll see happens in the future. But yeah, for right now. He’s taken. You know, he wants to be with me as my teammate.”

That makes plenty of sense.

Dante’s first priority is being able to help his son, so he’s continuing to do that. Toronto probably isn’t too upset about this, because they also want Bo to be at his best whenever the labor dispute is resolved.
