Don Mattingly praised by son Preston for throwing down Alan Trammell
The Los Angeles Dodgers players likely appreciated manager Don Mattingly standing up for them during the benches-clearing brawl with the Arizona Diamondbacks on Tuesday night, but nobody enjoyed Mattingly’s actions more than his son, Preston.
Preston Mattingly, who was a first-round pick of the Dodgers in 2006, tweeted on Tuesday that watching his dad throw down Diamondbacks coach Alan Trammell “like a rag doll” got him all hyped. His tweet linked to a GIF of the throw down as seen below.

There’s no question who won that fight. But the question is whether or not it was fair.
A tale of the tape is in order.
Mattingly: 52 years old, 6-feet-0, 175 pounds
Trammell: 55 years old, 6-feet-0, 165 pounds
Yup, this was definitely a fair fight. Maybe we’ll give Trammell the benefit of the doubt and just say he was thrown off by Mattingly’s surprise attack. I mean nobody really expects a manager to go HAM during a fight, right? They’re supposed to be controlling the situation!
