Josh Hader brushes off worst outing of season

Josh Hader

Milwaukee Brewers sensation Josh Hader brushed off a poor outing Monday that actually was his worst of the season.

Hader allowed four hits — more than double he had allowed in any previous outing in 2018 — including two homers as he blew a save in a 4-3 loss to the Miami Marlins. The home runs to Starlin Castro and Brian Anderson were back-to-back shots in the seventh. After entering with a 2-1 lead, Hader promptly allowed the back-to-back homers to put Milwaukee down 3-2. He settled in and was able to get out of the inning, while recording two outs in the eighth. Hader’s ERA jumped 0.33 points from 1.21 to 1.55.

Although Hader seemingly has been perfect most of the season, he says that’s just not a realistic expectation.

Josh Hader on his rough outing: "It’s baseball," he said. "I wish I could be perfect every single time I step on the mound. But realistically, I can’t. With games like this, you’ve just got to keep moving forward."

The NL All-Star team selection still has a whopping 85 strikeouts in 46.1 innings this season, along with seven saves and 14 holds. As great as he’s been, he’s showing that he is human.
