The New York Mets had a tight turnaround between their games on Wednesday and Thursday, and one player’s inability to urinate actually made things worse.
The Mets had a 6:10 pm game in Miami on Wednesday and closed out a 3-game sweep of the Marlins. After the game, two players were randomly drug tested. According to MLB.com Mets reporter Anthony DiComo, that proved to be difficult for Dominic Smith, who did not need to urinate. DiComo says the result was the Mets waiting around for an extra hour before departing so Smith could chug water to force his urination.
Adding to the Mets' tight turnaround between last night's game and this morning: Dominic Smith and one other Met were randomly drug tested late Wednesday. Smith didn't really have to pee, so he chugged water while his teammates waited close to an hour for him to do the deed.

We’ve heard plenty of stories about the inconvenience some of these random drug tests present, and this is no different.
Did it affect the team? The Mets didn’t arrive at the airport until around 3:00 am according to DiComo, leaving them little chance to sleep before being back at the park for Thursday’s day game, which marked their home opener. They ended up losing 4-0 to the Nats.
The recent travel schedule has not been kind to the Mets.
