Red Sox considering ex-Reds manager Bryan Price for pitching coach vacancy
Bryan Price has been out of Major League Baseball for the last year-and-a-half, but his ticket back into the league could come from the Boston Red Sox.
Tim Brown of Yahoo! Sports reported Sunday that the Red Sox have spoken to the former Cincinnati Reds manager about their pitching coach opening.
Price, 57, was the Cincinnati skipper for five seasons from 2014 to 2018, going 279-387 (.419) with zero playoff appearances before being fired. He does however have a wealth of experience as a pitching coach, serving in that capacity not only for the Reds prior to his tenure as manager, but for the Seattle Mariners and the Arizona Diamondbacks as well.
The Red Sox, who failed to make the playoffs this season for the first time since 2015, relieved Dana LeVangie of his pitching coach duties earlier this month. Price has an impressive resume and might make a real difference for them, especially if he can keep the profanity to a minimum.
