A decade after his father won a World Series title with the Boston Red Sox, Kaz Uehara is embarking on a new baseball journey of his own.

Kaz, the son of former Red Sox reliever Koji Uehara, shared this week that he is attending Wofford College to play for their baseball team. He posted pictures of himself in a Wofford uniform and also posed with his parents and his teammates.

Great time with the fam and always thankful for ⁦@WoffordBaseball⁩ and this weekend as well. Can’t wait to see what the future holds for this group. Love all these guys. pic.twitter.com/qDJOE3bUY9

The 17-year-old Kaz had apparently already committed to Wofford last fall, but the above post was the first public piece that he penned about the news.

Father Koji is remembered well by Boston fans. He pitched for the Red Sox from 2013-16, helping bring them to the 2013 World Series title (as the MVP of the ALCS that year too). Koji would then make the AL All-Star team the following season in 2014. He was one of the top closers in baseball at one point and finished his MLB career with a 2.66 ERA and a 0.89 WHIP.

As for Kaz, he played both pitcher and outfielder for the renowned IMG Academy in Florida. He actually went viral as a kid for his great interviews during Boston’s 2013 World Series run. Now Kaz is all grown up and ready to play college baseball.
