Detroit Tigers radio announcer Dan Dickerson got caught on a hot mic with a complaint that the team’s fans will empathize with.
Dickerson was still on the air doing a postgame show following the Tigers’ 15-inning 3-2 loss to the Seattle Mariners in Game 5 of the American League Division Series at T-Mobile Park in Seattle, Wa. His microphone was accidentally carried live during a commercial break, meaning listeners caught him reacting quite unenthusiastically to having to do a game recap. Be warned that the audio contains some strong language.
“I don’t have to do a — oh, f—. F— this game recap,” Dickerson said. “Oh, I’m sorry. Was that out loud?”

Dickerson has been calling Tigers games on the radio for 25 years, so he probably will not face any severe consequences for this. Fans would probably be furious if he did, too. Tigers fans had just stayed up until past 1 a.m. local time only for their team to lose a do-or-die playoff game in crushing fashion. They would probably say the exact same thing about any game recap.
The Tigers were among the best teams in baseball for much of the first half of 2025. They proceeded to blow a 15.5-game AL Central lead, lose the division, and fall in the ALDS. Dickerson’s reaction perfectly sums up the conclusion of that up-and-down campaign.
