AL East team reportedly showed interest in Carlos Correa

Carlos Correa is among the high-profile free agents who will be looking to sign a deal once the players and owners agree to terms on a new Collective Bargaining Agreement. We know of at least one team that showed interest in him.

According to MLB Network’s Jon Heyman, the New York Yankees showed interest in Correa prior to the lockout.

The Yankees previously showing interest in Correa does not necessarily mean they would end up signing him.

Heyman mentions the Braves, Cubs, Dodgers, Angels, Astros, Tigers, Giants, Cardinals and Red Sox as other potential fits. Yes, we realize that he linked a third of the league to Correa.

While some notable free agents signed contracts prior to the lockout, Correa did not. He ended up switching agents in January.

Yankees GM Brian Cashman previously indicated he was open to adding Correa despite the shortstop being a notable member of the rival Houston Astros.

Correa, 27, batted .279 with an .851 OPS last season. His 26 home runs were a career-high mark.
