Washington Wizards guard Bradley Beal is an All-Star from a non-contending team, and he wants to change that.
How? By tampering, according to Fred Katz of The Athletic. Beal intends to use his status to try to bring some of the star players around him to Washington.
“I have to. I have to,” Beal said. “I’ve never been in this position before. I kinda hate it. I hate super teams. And that’s just me. … Like everybody, just get your own team and just try to win with what you’ve got. But it’s like you need five All-Stars to win, especially to beat Golden State at this point. …
“We moved some pieces during the (trade) deadline that gave us a little bit more freedom in the offseason to do some things. So, I’m gonna try my best. I’m gonna definitely try my best.”
Beal has said he wants to stay with Washington for his entire career, but he also wants to win. To do that, the team probably needs some additions, and he’s apparently willing to fight through the hesitancy and try to talk some guys into helping him out.
