The Boston Celtics don’t seem particularly willing to push through their blockbuster trade with the Cleveland Cavaliers at all costs.
In an appearance Sunday on CSN New England, Chris Mannix of The Vertical reported that Boston could part with a second-rounder as extra compensation for the Cavs, but Jaylen Brown, Jayson Tatum, and an additional first-rounder all appear to be off the table.
Per @ChrisMannixYS on @CSNNE, #Celtics will draw line in sand. May part with a 2nd Rd pick to complete #Cavs deal. No firsts/Brown/Tatum.

The originally agreed-upon deal of Kyrie Irving to Boston with Isaiah Thomas, Jae Crowder, Ante Zizic, and Brooklyn’s unprotected 2018 first-rounder off to Cleveland was thrust into uncertainty over the weekend due to concerns over the health of Thomas’ hip. The Cavs reportedly want either Brown or Tatum added to the deal, but the Celtics are said to be resistant to the idea of any extra sweetener whatsoever. Whether or not a second-rounder is a satisfactory middle ground for both sides remains to be seen.
