Fair or not, the Philadelphia 76ers’ cell phone incident is going to become fodder for basketball fans everywhere.
It’s not just fans, either. Los Angeles Clippers head coach Doc Rivers was clearly watching, as he started his media availability on Saturday with a reference to what happened on the Sixers’ bench in their Game 1 loss.
Doc Rivers arrives at the podium for Game 1: “No cell phones. Put them in your pocket.” He takes the early soundbite series lead over Kerr.

Joel Embiid has offered an explanation for why it happened, but it’s not going to stop the memes or the jokes. You know it’s bad when another NBA coach is cracking cell phone jokes only a matter of hours after the situation took place.
