Miami Heat center Hassan Whiteside is a large human being that rose up from basketball ashes to become an imposing two-way force down in South Beach last season. But he might not even really be that. Now I’m starting to think that Whiteside may just secretly be an alien from the planet Gigantor.
The 26-year-old shared a gym photo to his Instagram account on Monday of him hanging from a regulation 10-foot-rim…with his feet touching the ground.
Whiteside’s caption read: “I don’t think people realize how big I am and how long my arms are I’m just hanging #its10feetlol”

The Heat are going to need Whiteside to use every bit of that jaw-dropping frame next season in order to prove that he wasn’t just a one-season wonder. As they look to reverse a 37-45 record in 2014-15 with a revamped roster intent on chasing a high playoff seed, Hassanity’s low-post scoring, ability to guard the rim and gobble up rebounds, finish powerful two-handed dunks in traffic, and intimidate opposing centers will be of the utmost importance.
Whiteside’s standing dunk rating on NBA 2K better be going up to a 99.
