Kawhi Leonard’s sister accused of murdering elderly woman

Kimesha Monae Williams

One of Kawhi Leonard’s sisters is among two women being held on bail for allegedly robbing and killing an elderly woman at a California casino on August 31.

Kimesha Monae Williams, 35, is being held on bail at Indio Correction Facility, the Riverside Press-Enterprise reported on Saturday. She and 39-year-old Candace Tai Townsel are accused of following an 84-year-old woman into a bathroom at Penchanga Resort Casino in Temecula, Calif., breaking the woman’s skull, and stealing her purse.

The 84-year-old victim, Afaf Anis Assad, died on Sept. 4.

A family member confirmed to the Press-Enterprise that Williams is Leonard’s sister.

A Riverside County sheriff’s investigator reportedly requested no bail for Williams, making reference to her family’s financial resources — a possible allusion to Leonard and his career earnings as an NBA superstar.

Williams has multiple convictions on her record, which include: petty theft, grand theft, misappropriating lost property, grand theft auto and attempted robbery. The two women reportedly have been accused in the past of stealing someone’s wallet at the same casino in 2015.

One of Leonard’s sisters made headlines in May regarding a video saying her brother would leave the Toronto Raptors. That was Miesha Slayton, a different sister. Slayton’s video turned out to be true; Kawhi chose to leave Toronto to sign with the LA Clippers this summer.
