Kevin Durant finally downplays feud with Draymond Green

Kevin Durant has turned down multiple opportunities to say all is well between him and Draymond Green and has even fanned the flames once or twice, but it appears he may finally be ready to let the Golden State Warriors move on from it.

After he scored 51 points on Thursday night (his third consecutive game with 44 or more points) in an overtime loss to the Toronto Raptors, Durant spoke with Anthony Slater of The Athletic about the drama surrounding the Warriors over the past two weeks or so. He chalked it up to a normal part of life in the NBA.

“It’s just crazy how we have so much success here that a lot of people don’t realize that this is usually what happens in the NBA,” Durant said. “It may not happen to the Warriors the last four years. But it happens. It happens to every team in the NBA.”

The day after Durant got into a heated exchange with Green on the court, he was given every opportunity to speak about the incident like he did with Slater, but he instead made it clear that he was bothered by it.

But on Thursday night, Durant even went as far as to say the issues the Warriors are having are “nothing new.”

“I just think it’s the first time we went through it as a group. I’m sure Andre (Iguodala) had it on previous teams, Shaun (Livingston), myself,” he added. “Anyone here that’s played somewhere else has been through a season like that, a stretch like that. I think that also helped us out fighting through this, getting onto the next day.”

Perhaps Durant is finally feeling better during his incredible stretch of play, because his social media activity from about a week ago hinted that he was still very much at odds with Green. With Stephen Curry set to return on Saturday after missing 11 games with an injury, order may be on the verge of being restored in Golden State.
