The New York Knicks are exploring several possibilities for their head coaching vacancy, and that could even mean bringing back someone who held the job not all that long ago.
ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reports that the Knicks have received permission to speak with Los Angeles Clippers assistant coach Mike Woodson, who was the head coach in New York from 2012 to 2014.

For what it’s worth, Wojnarowski reports that Woodson is not among the top candidates the Knicks are eyeing.
New York is finalizing plans to meet with three of the top candidates for the Knicks' head coaching job this week — David Fizdale, Mark Jackson and Jerry Stackhouse, league sources tell ESPN.

The Knicks reached the conference semis under Woodson in 2013 after they went 54-28 during the regular season. They finished 37-45 the following year and missed the playoffs, and Woodson was fired.
Some of the problems Woodson had in New York seemed to center around his relationship with Carmelo Anthony, so perhaps the Knicks are considering giving him another shot now that they are in rebuilding mode. Still, Woodson seems like a long shot to land the job.
