Kristaps Porzingis out until at least February
We won’t be seeing the Unicorn suit up for the New York Knicks for possibly another few months.
Kristaps Porzingis is recovering from a torn ACL suffered in February. He had surgery on Feb. 13 and was expected to miss at least 10 months, though there was some talk that he could miss the entire season. Based on an update provided by the Knicks on Friday, that seems like it could still be the case.
The Knicks said that Porzingis is recovering well and progressing in his rehab. They say he will be re-evaluated in mid-February.

If Porzingis is going to be re-evaluated in mid-February, it might not make much sense to have him play in the final weeks of the season. If he is cleared to play in mid-February, that would give him two months of action. In a year when the Knicks are aiming for a high draft pick, having him return rather for brief action rather than just take the entire season off from competition so that he’ll be ready to go in 2019-2020 might not make much sense.
