Kyrie Irving came in for some criticism due to his absence from the sideline during Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals, but he apparently had a medical reason for his absence.
According to Celtics president Danny Ainge, Irving had a nasal procedure done and was subsequently absent for the decisive game.
Kyrie Irving needed a procedure done for a deviated septum, which was why he wasn’t at Game 7, per Danny Ainge. Didn’t want to be seen after the surgery, Ainge said.

That might not quiet the criticism, but there you have it. It certainly looked odd that the injured star wasn’t at such a huge game, but it is a legitimate reason. Irving will take what he’s seen forward into next season, when he is expected to be fully healthy.
