Luke Walton may not be out of work for long.
The Los Angeles Lakers and Walton parted ways on Friday, three days after the team’s disappointing season came to an end. The parting of ways had been expected for months, so Walton was likely prepared to be looking for a new job. He may have one if the Sacramento Kings get their way.
The Athletic’s Sam Amick says Walton is the top choice on Vlade Divac’s list for a new coach of the Sacramento Kings.
As expected, source tells @TheAthletic that Kings GM Vlade Divac will now reach out to Luke Walton to schedule an interview now that his Lakers days are done. As I reported yesterday, Walton is Divac's first choice for this job.

The Kings fired Dave Joerger on Thursday and need a new coach to lead their young players. Walton is full of that type of experience after coaching the youth-filled Lakers for three seasons.
Sacramento would be a great landing spot for Walton. They showed significant improvement this season, going 39-43 — a 12-game improvement from the year before. The have emerging youngsters in De’Aaron Fox, Marvin Bagley III, and Buddy Hield. They are on the way up and their job is a desirable one.
