R&B singer Sevyn Streeter is planning to return to the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia next month to sing the national anthem after the 76ers apologized to her.
Streeter, who was pulled from her performance in October at the last second because she was wearing a shirt with “We Matter” written across the front, told TMZ this week that she is looking forward to working with the team.
“I’m all about peace and positivity, man,” Streeter said. “They came back and apologized. We came to an agreement. I’m gonna go back and sing the anthem on Dec. 16 and I’m wearing my ‘We Matter’ jersey. I’m partnering with the 76ers to do a lot in the community in Philadelphia. We turned an unfortunate situation into something that’s going to wind up being a blessing for a lot of people.”
Streeter says she was told just minutes before her performance last month that she would not be permitted to take the floor, as the team did not agree with her using the platform to call attention to issues of social injustice. Several players were reportedly angered by the decision and met with the team to question it.

The 76ers issue an apology days after blocking Streeter’s performance, and they have apparently done enough to smooth things over with her.
