Shai Gilgeous-Alexander announces major personal news
Consider the rest of the NBA warned — Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is officially in his father era.
The Oklahoma City Thunder superstar Gilgeous-Alexander and his wife Hailey Summers announced big news to social media Tuesday. They shared that their first child, a son named Ares Alexander, was born on Apr. 25.
Gilgeous-Alexander, 25, just married Summers, 24, in February of this year. Summers, a native of Canada like Gilgeous-Alexander, is a former collegiate soccer player. She played for the University at Albany in New York, even serving as team captain for two years. The couple announced Summers’ pregnancy in December of last year.
For Gilgeous-Alexander, a finalist for the NBA MVP award this season, the news comes as his team just swept the New Orleans Pelicans out of the first round of the playoffs. The Thunder will await the winner of the LA Clippers-Dallas Mavericks series, and Gilgeous-Alexander will be hoping to emulate this fellow NBA guard who won a championship right after becoming a dad.
