Duke trolls John Calipari after landing commitment from Marques Bolden

Duke’s official Twitter account trolled John Calipari after the program landed a commitment from highly sought-after recruit, Marques Bolden.

Bolden, a five-star center from Texas, on Thursday announced that he was choosing to attend Duke. He picked Duke most notably over Kentucky, which led the Blue Devils’ official men’s basketball Twitter account to troll Wildcats head coach John Calipari.

Here’s the tweet sent out by Duke, which included multiple flame/fire emojis, along with a fishing rod and some fish/whales.

Duke tweet

Duke later deleted that tweet.

Why would they delete it and what makes it a troll job? Well, all you need to do is go back 10 days on Calipari’s timeline, and you’ll see he talked at length about the vision for his program. Part of his pitch follows the maxim of give a person a fish, you feed him for a day; teach them how to fish, you feed them for a lifetime.

That means giving them the fishing rod and the lures to help them catch fish, not to just give them the fish. https://t.co/29F63kNUQu

This sort of behavior does not seem typical of a Coach K program, which preaches respect and classiness. Although, between this tweet and the way Coach K has behaved of late, maybe we shouldn’t be completely surprised.
