Chad Morris was aiming high for his next defensive coordinator hire, and he appears to be landing on John Chavis.
SI’s Bruce Feldman reports that Chavis is expected to become Arkansas’ new defensive coordinator.
Chavis has extensive experience as an SEC defensive coordinator. He served as Texas A&M’s defensive coordinator the past three seasons; LSU’s from 2009-2014; and Tennessee’s from 1995-2008.
Chavis, 61, will be tasked with turning around a defense that allowed 36.2 points per game this season, which ranked 115th in the nation.
