Joe Burrow passed out after infamous 7-overtime game against Texas A&M

Joe Burrow

The 7-overtime game between Texas A&M and LSU last year was one of the most memorable contests of the season. The memories for Joe Burrow were all bad ones.

LSU lost 74-72 in seven overtimes at College Station to drop to 9-3. The Tigers thought they had sealed the game on an interception in the final minute, but it was taken away. They even gave Coach Ed Orgeron a premature Gatorade bath before losing.

Not only did they have what they thought was a win taken away from them, but then they went through seven overtimes before losing. That’s heartbreaking. The game was so draining that Burrow says he passed out in the locker room.

“The dreaded 7-overtime game. That was not that fun. Miserable, actually,” Burrow told the “Pardon My Take” podcast for an interview that aired on Monday. “I actually passed out in the locker room. I was dehydrated. I was super dizzy and lightheaded and had to chug a couple of apple sauce squeezes to get my blood sugar up.”

After losing that game, LSU went on to beat UCF in their bowl game to finish 10-3. This season they beat A&M 50-7 in a revenge game. Aggies quarterback Kellen Mond said before this season that LSU players were cramping during the game. The story from Burrow confirms at least one LSU player dealt with dehydration.
