Manny Diaz admits Miami is rebuilding
The Miami Hurricanes fell to 3-4 on Saturday with a surprising loss to Georgia Tech, but if coach Manny Diaz is to be believed, it may yet get worse.
Diaz admitted after the loss that the Hurricanes are in a “rebuild,” but through recruiting and effort, he can see a turnaround in the future.
Manny Diaz’s message to recruits: “They’re part of the solution. … Through all these games, you can see the promise of the future. … For lack of a better word, this is a rebuild.”

Miami fans won’t like hearing this. After all, Al Golden had a winning record in all but one season and it wasn’t enough to keep his job. Diaz has to turn things around faster than that to avoid the same sort of backlash. It’s even more true when you remember that the Hurricanes won ten games under Mark Richt and seemed to be on the rise again just two years ago.
