The Minnesota Gophers have come up with a unique way of distracting opposing kickers this season, and it involves a squirrel. But not just any squirrel. This one is internet famous.
When TCU kicker Jaden Oberkrom lined up for a field goal facing the videoboard at TCF Bank Stadium Thursday night, he found himself face to face with the infamous “dramatic squirrel.” The team got the idea from one of the most viewed YouTube videos of all time.
Fortunately for No. 2 TCU, Oberkrom converted three of his four field goal attempts and the Horned Frogs squeaked out a 23-17 win.
Unlike some of the other ways we have seen people distract kickers, this one seems perfectly fair. Hilarious, but fair.
